Our Staff & Deacon Board
Pastor Ken was born in Greenville, South Carolina. While Pastor Ken’s dad was stationed in Greenville with the Air Force, a Bob Jones University student led him to Christ. When he finished his enlistment, he enrolled at BJU and studied for the ministry. After a few years as a youth pastor, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Ken grew up. He was saved at the age of five. While growing up in a pastor’s home, Ken developed a love for the ministry. He played basketball and soccer all through high school, and has used sports as a platform for witnessing opportunities. After graduating from Bob Jones with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, and a minor in speech, Ken returned to Tulsa. For five years he taught Bible and speech, and coached in the Christian school his dad had founded. He directed several school plays as well. He served as interim youth pastor for two years during that time. After several years, he became a youth and music pastor at Tulsa Baptist Temple, where his love for missions increased. Ken led his first teen missions trip to the island of St. Vincent. Since then he continued to develop a four-year program that culminated in individualized trips for the fourth-year teens. He brought that heart for missions to Tri City Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado, where he developed an in-depth missions program. Teen and adult trips were taken to many areas of the world, including the Caribbean, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Africa. Evangelism is a passion for Pastor Ken. He developed an effective Evangelism Explosion ministry, which trains people to share the gospel. He conducted a children’s choir during those twelve years, and directed many of the Patch the Pirate performances.
While in Denver, he began working on his Master of Ministry Degree and is just a few credits short of completing that. Twelve years and four children later, Pastor Ken and his family moved from Denver to Dunbar. After serving five years as Director of Student Development at Northland Baptist Bible College, he felt God calling him to Brookside Baptist Church. Their family moved here in the spring of 2006.
Pastor Ken and Kathy have enjoyed being involved in all aspects of ministry, and all of their sons have caught that vision as well. Kyle and his wife Kayla are serving at Clark Summit University, a Christian college in Clark Summit, PA where Kyle coaches men's soccer and teaches. Kevin and Becka with their two children Hollis and Finley serve as the youth pastor in Little Egg Harbor, NJ at Calvary Baptist Church. Keith and his wife Sharlee are serving at Grace Church in Akron, OH where Keith is the college pastor. Kurt and his wife Liz live in Germany where Kurt serves our country in the United States Army.
Pastor Ken has traveled the country, as well as several foreign countries, challenging and training teens and adults for Great-Commission living. Pastor Ken is known as a servant leader with a shepherd's heart.
